October 5th to 11th is Fire Prevention week.

The theme of this year’s Fire Prevention Week is “Working Smoke Alarms save lives.”  Test your smoke detectors each month and change your batteries when you set your clocks back in the Fall (November 2nd) and ahead in the Spring.  Make sure you also have a carbon monoxide detector in your home.

Fire extinguishers should be checked each year to make sure they are still functional. Purchase new fire extinguishers if you are not sure if they are still working.

Check out the National Fire Protection Association’s website for more fire prevention tips.

Let us know if you have a plan for your home if there is a fire.
