Sticking to Your New Year’s Resolution

2021 is here! A new year means a fresh start and another chance to make some changes. Most of us make New Year’s resolutions, but not all of us can stick to them! There are several things you can do to increase your chances of sticking to your New Year’s resolution.

  1. Start Small: By making your resolutions more realistic, there is a greater chance that you will keep them throughout the year. For example if you aim to eat healthier, try replacing dessert with something else you enjoy, like fruit or yogurt, instead of changing your whole diet and making it a form of punishment.
  2. Change One Behavior At A Time: Unhealthy behaviors develop over time. Thus, replacing unhealthy behaviors with healthy ones will require time. Don’t get overwhelmed trying to reassess and change everything at once.
  3. Talk About It: Sharing your struggles and successes with friends and family can make the journey much easier and less intimidating. Consider joining a support group to reach your goal!
  4. Don’t Beat Yourself Up: Perfection is unattainable. It’s normal and OK to have minor missteps when working towards your goals. Don’t give up completely if you ate that brownie or skipped the gym for a week. Everyone will have their ups and downs – recover from your mistakes and get back on track!
  5. Ask For Support: Accept help from those who care about you. If you feel overwhelmed or unable to meet your goals, consider seeking professional help – a trainer or a nutritional counselor perhaps.

Studies show that about 60% of us make a resolution every year. Only about 8% of us actually achieve our resolution! If you want to be a part of the 8% follow these tips, work hard, and don’t quit! Spencer Insurance Agency, Inc.’s resolution is to provide excellent customer service and help our community members receive the insurance coverage they need! New Year’s Resolutions to Keep!

Okay, how many New Year’s Resolutions have you already broken?

Here are some you can make now and keep the rest of the year:

  • Everyone in my car will wear a seatbelt while driving.
  • I will give my full attention to driving: this means no texting, no cell phone, no arguments, and no multi-tasking while driving.
  • I will drive unimpaired (no drinking, no driving when too tired or sick)
  • I will observe the posted speed limits
  • I will adjust my driving when weather mandates it.

Or, just think of three rules of the road:

  1. I will drive as if my life and mobility depended on it.
  2. I will drive as if I am carrying precious cargo that is easily damaged.
  3. I will drive as if all the vehicles I meet, follow and pass held my loved ones.

Many people drive extra cautiously when they have their beloved pet is on board.   Wow, their pet’s life is more important than their life?  I wonder what your son or daughter would think.  Drive as if your life or the life of someone you love depended on it.

Remember, at Spencer Insurance, Your Protection and Peace of Mind is our only business.

Happy New Year

All of us at Spencer Insurance Agency wish you and your family a Happy New Year!

We wish you the very best for the coming year.

I would like to suggest some New Year’s Resolutions

  • Review your policies – Things change, when was the last time you reviewed you auto, home and life insurance policies?
  • Take an inventory of your home.  A total loss from a fire in rare but how would you remember what you owned if you did not have pictures or an inventory.  With today’s digital technology taking an inventory is easy.  Call our office today for some suggestions on how to inventory your home in the event you have a loss and need to use your homeowner’s insurance.
  • Avoid Distracted driving.  Distracted driving is the number one cause of car accidents. Promise yourself that you will never text while driving.  Texting while driving is more dangerous than driving under the influence of alcohol. Dialing a cell phone is also a major distraction.  If you must use a cell phone use a hands free attachment.
  • Protect your teen drivers:  Teach them about the dangers of distracted driving.
Go to our website which is designed for the parents of teen drivers for more tips. The website can be found at www.teendriverinsurance.com/spencer. Keep your auto insurance costs low by working with your teen driver to educate them on safe driving.  Teen driver education is an important part of handing over the keys.

I am looking forward to a great year as this year I will walk my daughter Laura up the aisle at her wedding in November and our daughter Patty will make Tammy and I Grandparents for the first time in May.

Spencer Insurance looks forward to working with you on protecting the thing that mean most in your life, your family.  Call us for a review of your life insurance, car insurance and homeowner’s insurance.
